Panhellenic

As part of my NUFP experience at George Mason University, I am keeping a blog journal of my interactions and notes on what I learn.

One portion of this experience is to work with Greek Life, specifically with Panhellenic Recruitment. What I aim to learn here is the pace and complexities of Recruitment, and the counseling that each administrator must moderate.

Recruitment starts on Thursday, and goes through the whole weekend. I feel ready and open to experience an event I’ve only HEARD about as an undergraduate.

For my weekend at Panhellenic Recruitment, I am under the guidance of Christopher Jefferson, who works as the coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Life. I’ve been asked to see this weekend in four different lights, in hopes that I can understand different perspectives of the weekend (where they count the most).
On day 1, I must open my eyes as an undergraduate experiencing this event for the first time (fairly easy).
Day 2, I must see what goes on behind the scenes, as an administrator.
Day 3 is where I see through the eyes of the students who are doing the recruiting. This day is purely observational, given my preferences based on friends.
Day 4 will be the counseling portion, where I’m told I have to keep my eyes open the most.
